Janet Van Deusen

Janet has served for 10 years on the Board of California Health Advocates

Janet Van Deusen graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1981 with degrees in Spanish and Gerontology.  Since then, she has worked primarily in the field of aging, providing both direct and administrative services in the areas of adult day health care, residential care, home health care, case management, and health insurance counseling.

Janet has been the Manager of the Alameda County Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) with Legal Assistance for Seniors for twenty years.  During this time she has served on various state and national committees to further outreach, educational and counseling services to Medicare beneficiaries.  She also served ten years as a member of the Board of Directors for California Health Advocates, a statewide organization which advocates on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries and their families throughout California.

Janet values her role with HICAP in helping people on Medicare to be wise consumers of our complex health care system.
