Christina Griffin
Staff Title: Staff Guardianship Attorney
Birthdate: August 4, 1970
Birthplace: Redding, CA
She could be described as the quintessential “I love my dogs,” “let’s help grandparents”, “I hate advertising,” “I’ve never lived outside of California”, left-handed California girl. But if you ask Christina Griffin what she thinks about Christina Griffin, she just says two words, “responsible and loyal.” Born on 8/4/1970 in beautiful Redding, CA, she was the third of three children.
A life-changing event over the past year was being recently married last August to her husband Harry.
When I asked her about her past, Christina was very candid. And whether it’s serving volatile parents in a guardianship case, or talking about her two dogs, she approaches things in life with a calm, unhesitating demeanor. Just call her Christina Mary Cool-headed Kathleen Griffin – dig on that.
Christina attended Fresno State University and received her degree in journalism. Her focus was in advertising, so she interned at an advertising firm and the campus newspaper. But after a few years, she realized that she didn’t want to be stuck in the dark, unending entropy of the advertising world and decided to pursue law (to restore the cosmic imbalance caused by the quantum evil of advertising firms around the world). She went to McGeorge (Salony was one of her class mates [no not really but she also went to McGeorge]), and started getting interested in legal aid when she worked at the school’s legal clinic during her second year. After graduating, she joined Volunteer Legal Services Corporation of the ACBA and worked there for three and a half years on various guardianship cases (including the indomitable guardianship client, Mr. H, who came to see Christina nearly every week for help with his newspaper hoarding issues).
Just call her Christina Mary Cool-headed Kathleen Griffin – dig on that.
Over the past few years, Christina has experienced a myriad of challenging events that have dramatically changed her life. After the county stopped funding the VLSC program, Christina was laid-off with a handful of other young attorneys. At the same time, her mother, having suffered brain damage after a major car accident, was moved to a nursing home where she eventually passed away due to her injuries. Another life-changing event over the past year (this one being on a more positive note) was being recently married last August to her husband Harry. While Christina was first working at VLSC, Harry was contracted to design a computer program to help ease the intake/eligibility process for VLSC’s guardianship clients. Unfortunately for Harry, the program was ultimately unsuccessful due to the inability of VLSC’s clientele to use basic computer functions. BUT, he was ultimately successful in wooing and later marrying Christina – which in the end is so much more significant. Who says computer programming is a dead-end profession? Go Harry! And thanks Christina for all your help, we’re truly glad that you’re here.
