Preventing Elder Abuse
Free legal services for seniors and the elderly. Stop Physical Abuse, Financial Abuse, Caretaker Abuse, Restraining Orders, Revoke Powers of Attorney, Adult Protective Services.
Between 1 and 2 million Seniors in the US have been abused by a caregiver.
Through the generous support of our funders and individual donors, we protect over 250 seniors from abuse every year.
LAS staff assist seniors in:
- filing restraining orders
- revoking powers of attorney
- removing abusers from the home with police assistance
We handled over 265 abuse cases last year.
Through these services, LAS aids seniors in protecting themselves from physical, emotional, and financial abuse and ensures that seniors are able to live with dignity, free from the isolation and trauma associated with any form of abuse.
In addition to focusing on individual cases, we are devoted to spreading awareness and educating legal practitioners, law enforcement, social workers, and the general public about elder abuse. In our mission to inform others about elder abuse and abuse prevention, we conduct an annual Elder Abuse Conference in Alameda County.
